The sports competition has long become the event that everyone is looking for.  For employees, it is a chance to go to another city and to meet his/her colleagues and, after all, it is a way for employs to see others and be seen.  Therefore, since the start of summer people begin to count days to the sports competition.  It is the 16th competition for Kazatomprom employees and the 3rd time when it is held in Astana.  811 people from 22 different companies including Baiken-U LLP took part in this sports event.  Sportsmen competed with each other in 7 sports in two groups: volleyball, basketball, mini-football (soccer), track-and-field athletics, ping-pong, badminton and chess.  Only those employees who are 18 year old and older and who had worked for the holding no less than for six month were allowed to take part in the competition. 

This year sports competition opening was held in the sports complex of the Nazarbayev University.  All teams wearing nice-looking uniforms of their companies lined up in the gym hall for the formal opening of the competition.   The CEO was the first who congratulated all the members of the competition.

All managers of NNC and all its subsidiaries and associates took part in 3km. race to celebrate the opening of the competition and to make their contribution into the holding’s sport life.  After that, the competition began.  It was held in different sports facilities and at the very entrance thereto it was clear that there was high emotional temperature there.   Sportsmen were competing enthusiastically and strained every sinew. While track and field athletes were warming up at the stadium, chess players were thinking over their next moves.

MAEP and UMP teams have always been considered the strongest ones.  This year they were competing in different groups.  Five days of the competition were very action-packed and there were new winners every day.   On the day of the competition closing, all teams got together in the same sports complex of Nazarbayev University.  Some sportsmen were joyfully smiling in anticipation of reward while some others were gloomy because they came short of their hopes.

According to the results of the group A competition, MAEK-Kazatomprom LLP team was the first among the teams followed by Karatau LLP and Kazatomprom-SaUran LLP.  UMZ JSC team was the leader in the group B followed by Appak LLP and Inkai JV LLP sports team that was the third.  The team of Baiken-U LLP that belonged to the Group B took the fifth place.
